About Richard Kiser
Hello... I'm Richard Kiser.
Here is some basic information about me. What I do and what I like to do. Where I live, work, and play. How my digital life began and where I would like it to go. So read below and visit the rest of my site and my flagship website 2FarOffRoad.com
I live in a small town located 45 minutes east of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is a great small town with a population of 2200+. In the recent years we have become home to a Wal-Mart, a hwy. by-pass, and installed our first stop light.
I work full time as a retail manager at a Fortune 500 company. I have enjoyed my entire 10+ years working for this company. I also work part time doing a variety of different things. Mostly dealing in parts and accessories for ATV's online via my website 2FarOffRoad.com, E-bay, craigslist, and other sites. Salvaging, buying, selling, repairing ATV's for people around town. I buy ATV's in all conditions, running, not running, wrecked, broken, or just plane junk. I have also become good at locating hard to find parts and finding new OEM parts at a great price.
I also work as a free lance web developer, designing, and hosting websites for several great clients. Currently I have designed 8 different websites and currently host and manage 6 through a shared hosting company. I personally own 10 different domain names some of which are up for sale.
For fun you can visit 2FarOffRoad.com for lots of info on that subject. I am an ATV enthusiast, every chance I get away from work I am out riding my ATV, I own a Honda Rincon Trx680EFI, Honda Rubicon Trx500, and a Honda Fourtrx Trx300fw. I travel around to many public and private places to ride the trails they have to offer. I love the outdoors. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and anything that can be done outside. I make daily trips to a local pond I am managing to see how it is doing and what needs to be done to improve the fishing quality.
My digital life with computers began back in 3nd grade with the huge 8 inch truly floppy disks. These things where top of the line with massive total storage of 100k bytes and they took forever to load. I bought my first computer back in 1992. It too was a top of the line with Windows 3.1. Since then I have delt with most all versions of window including 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, and my current OS Window 7. I also spent a few years messing with a linux system, hosting my own web/mail server out of my house until I found it more resourceful to just buy hosting service with a company that did that kind of thing. Today I use Lunarpages to host all my websites.
In 2000 I begun selling things on E-Bay. I did great, sold lots of junk to people who found value in it. I now currently sell between 100-200 items online each month through E-Bay. Every now and then someone will ask me to sell this and that online for them, but I try to stay clear of that. Old junk just does not bring that much online any more and after E-bay gets there 1/2 of funds collected they usually get upset when they only make a few bucks.
In the future I hope that I can quit my full time job in retail and work doing the other things I like to do. I would love to get to the point I could make a living off designing and hosting webpages, or even repairing, salvaging, and re-selling ATV parts online.
My ultimate job would be to become a tour guide for a OHV trail system. Taking clients on an overnight 2-3 day remote adventure. Returning with 300+ miles under out belt and a lifetime of memories on the open trail.
I have a dream... that one day... I will find my self there.
